A Beautiful Place Inside and Out

It was a cold and blustery December when a friend was in town and I drove up to meet him at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

If you haven’t been there, it’s a unique and beautiful Santiago Calatrava-designed art museum.

I mean, even the parking garage is photogenic. Look at those lines and curves. It was especially nice that no one else was there yet.

A unique view of one of the walls in the parking garage.

Once inside, the atrium at the entrance is iconic. But, this time I am not sharing an image from there. There are many other interesting and intriguing qualities to share.

Ceilings and walls may seem mundane until you direct the camera onto them.

They become more dimensional and more artistic the more you look around.

Have a seat. Spend some time studying the structure. The repetitions, the patterns, light and shadows. I can’t even imagine coming up with this design in my head.

Watch other patrons interact with the structure. Subtle reflections create some interesting scenes in one of the hallways.

And of course, people taking photos of people taking photos. You can’t help yourself. At least, I couldn’t.

It is also interesting to see the museum interacting with the buildings around it.

If you are ever in Milwaukee, it’s worth the time to visit the Milwaukee Art MuseumIt’s right on Lake Michigan. A wonderful place and area to wander.
