The Trees Around the Lake

Buttermere Trees

We were lucky to have a gorgeous day for our visit to Buttermere Lake. The greenery was lush and deep. Buttermere trees were every bit as beautiful as the lake itself. I can also imagine that the area surrounding the lake is gorgeous during and after a rain as well. In fact, one of the reasons we chose Buttermere is because I had met a couple of photographers on Substack who regularly photograph and hike there.

Having seen images from all seasons, I’m hoping to get back there during the winter. Though I’m quite sure I will not be driving on winter roads in that area. Thankfully, the bus service is quite good at getting you where you want to go.

As we walked the trail, I kept an eye out for scenes both along the lake and up on the mountain and in the forested areas. A person could easily walk in a very small area and capture beautiful landscapes, gorgeous trees, interesting small macro scenes, as well as finding waterfalls tucked in along the way.

Buttermere Trees in Black and White

Sometimes light and textures appear more prominent when converted to black and white. I feel like it also pays homage to the age of the area. If you’re interested in geology and how the Lake District came to be, Wikipedia has a great general overview.
