Calatrava Constellation at River Point Park

River Point Park — Chicago

I had been waiting to head downtown to photograph the latest @calatravaofficial sculpture “Constellation”.

It’s located at River Point Park along the Chicago River. Perfect.

I had to get ‘that’ shot. Such great contrasts, reflections and colors in this area.

But as per usual, I prefer to find the details and smaller compositions within the scene.

There are endless possibilities in this location for including the sculpture with the surrounding buildings.

Color combinations that work well are fairly easy to find.

I could also include my obsession with the reflections in nearby buildings and still include Constellation.

That Calatrava red pops.

Combining this sculpture with the surrounding architecture was quite fun and sometimes a bit challenging with the light at the end of the day.

I’ve visited this sculpture on several occasions now at different times of the year. It looks pretty amazing with the yellow leaves of fall nearby.

The construction crane reflections in the building across the river made for some interesting abstracts while including a bit of the sculpture.

Flirty — or come hither? So many interesting combinations as you walk around this sculpture.

I love how the view changes as you make your way around the sculpture. Different colors and contrasts to use as a background.

While I love that red, the shapes of Constellation also look good in black and white. More emphasis on the shapes and lines than on that color.

And, once again to include the reflections of nearby buildings IN nearby buildings along with the sculpture makes my heart happy.

I have yet to take images of snow around that area.
