Galena, Illinois: Main Street

Galena, Illinois: Main Street

Since I’m here in Galena, I thought I’d share a few images from a little meander down Main Street. I kept my eyes open for interesting doors and windows that caught my eye. You might see that as a bit of a theme with a few other things thrown in.

These are all fairly quick captures and even quicker editing. Don’t want to spend my time sitting in front of my laptop when we’re trying to relax, refresh and recharge. Back to my feet up and a book.

It’s a quaint little town and home to quite a bit of history, including Ulysses S. Grant who moved to Galena in 1860 and through his presidency. Even though we’ve been here a few times, we’ve refrained from doing the touristy things. Mostly we come here to wander, relax and just be away for a few days.

It is worth coming back at some point, possibly even on my own to explore further with the camera. So many old and interesting buildings here in Galena and also across the river in DuBuque.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the quick little trip down Main Street, Galena. With one little side trip on the bridge to DuBuque, Iowa.
