Home and Office Decor – Rotterdam & Berlin

Home and Office Decor – Rotterdam & Berlin

This week our home and office decor come to you from Rotterdam and Berlin. I can not wait to go back to both of these cities and spend more time. The mix of old and new architecture in Rotterdam and Berlin makes it easy to create unique fine art photographs.

Rotterdam

I chose to create a small series of the station. There were so many interesting angles and shapes that it was hard to move on from there. The featured image of this article shows two more perspectives of the outer station building. Rotterdam is definitely a city I will return to and spend far more than just a few hours. There is an incredible amount of really interesting and unique architecture there.

I think the sleek lines and modern metal would make a great addition to a corporate office or waiting room.

The Reichstag Dome was on my list of buildings to photograph as I spent three days in Berlin. This is an interesting combination of old and new when you see the building as a whole. The Dome portion was constructed on top of the rebuilt Reichstag building in Berlin. It was designed by architect Norman Foster and built to symbolize the reunification of Germany. The distinctive appearance of the dome has made it a prominent landmark in Berlin.

Berlin Home and Office Decor

Architectural pieces are a nice addition to any home and office decor. You’re able to show off your favorite cities or possibly even your hometown architecture.

If you are interested in a print of Rotterdam Centraal Study #2 or Berlin Reichstag Lines head on over to Springboard Arts and get the details needed to add this to your own collection.

In case you missed the home decor from Chicago & Belgium click on the cities and it’ll take you to see what I found to create in each place.

Gallery pieces: The Flamingo and Brussels Architecture

I am starting Perspectives out with images that I’m excited to announce are represented by Springboard Arts Gallery in Wicker Park, Chicago. It’s an honor to have been one of several artists chosen to participate in this new gallery. The latest news is that it will be opening on November 14, 2020.

The Flamingo by Alexander Caulder is a bright “Calder Orange” sculpture that sits in Federal Plaza in Chicago. The bright orange really stands out against the dark buildings it is surrounded by day or night. It’s particularly interesting to take such a bright-colored object and convert it to black and white but when you add in the dark of night, it creates a high contrast scene which really makes the Flamingo stand out against the night sky and its neighbors.

Now, imagine this piece framed and hanging in your own home or office. Fits perfectly, right?

Brussels Architecture

This is one of my favorite pieces. In 2014 I went on a photo workshop/tour with John Batdorff Photography to Brussels, Ghent and Bruges, Belgium. We spent our days wandering and just photographing whatever caught our eye. As usual, I was drawn to the architecture. In this case, we walked into an alley that led to this courtyard of a rather large building. This was looking up in one of the little circular alcoves. What a great find.

I find it always helps to see an image framed and in a setting to easier visualize how it would look in your own space. Doing this also will show you what sizes might work best in a specific room. If you would like to see more about how sizes look in a space, let me know.

Fine Art – Welcome to the NEW Lauri Novak website

Fine Art – Welcome to the NEW Lauri Novak website

Welcome!

Welcome to my new fine art photography home and welcome to Perspectives, the (mostly) weekly spot to keep you up to date with my new work, catch up with some of my past work and to stay informed on where I have artwork showing and living.

Berlin Ceiling Fine Art

What sort of fine art information will you find here?

This will be the place where I will be showcasing my artwork. I will post new images and go back through the archives to pull out images that belong in my fine art galleries and portfolio. You will be able to see what my work looks like in a real-life (or reasonable facsimile) situation.

I want you to be able to visualize a piece of art in your home, office or commercial space.

Announcements and events – fine art galleries and shows

Here in Perspectives, you will also find gallery shows or other events that may be happening. I’ll save up any exciting news, new installations, collaborations and share them with you here each week.

This space is about you

I’m here to help you. If you have any questions, ask! Email me, contact me on social media or reply to my posts. I want to be able to help you if you need artwork for a location whether it’s for your own home or maybe you’re a business owner who is looking to improve the look of your offices. Perhaps you’re a builder or contractor and are working with interior designers to stage homes or decorate offices, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial buildings, send them my way.

My work leans toward the architectural side of the spectrum. I’ve always been drawn to architecture and no matter where I travel I tend to capture that side of a place. That doesn’t mean I don’t have other options available but it will be what you see most of here.

Thank you

Thank you for coming along with me on this new adventure. Honestly, I feel like this is what I should have done all along but just wasn’t quite ready. I had to experiment with other opportunities first, try this, do that, figure out what works, what doesn’t and what it is that really feeds my soul. I’m excited you’re here and happy to finally share where this path is heading.
