Conoco U-Drop Inn, Shamrock, Texas

Another Art Deco stop on our trip is the Conoco U-Drop Inn in Shamrock, Texas. The gas station and cafe are no longer open. However, the building’s design is very unique.

It was built in 1936. It’s sad that so many of the wonderful places have been left to die and are completely gone or in a horrible state of disrepair. Once the interstate system was built, Route 66 became a ghost road.
